Can prayer change you?
Why is it that when we are worried, prayer seems like a last resort?
Can prayer change you? We know in our head that God calls us to bring everything to Him, but when you are in the middle of something is prayer the first thing you try? How does talking to God change your current situation?
I don’t know about you, but I have had an emotional roller coaster of a week!
Today as I’m writing this to you, I am fighting a horrible headache, which in turn has my stomach doing flip flops. It’s no fun, but I’m fairly certain it’s brought on by stress.
I struggle with anxiety daily. God and I have been having some talks about it, and this week I’ve been talking to Him more about it than usual. I don’t know why I have such a hard time letting go of worry and why I allow my mind to take over until my body physically hurts, but I know it’s a problem and its something I know that I can overcome. But I can't do it alone.
I’ve struggled with it my whole life, and I’ve had seasons that were much more worthy of stress and worry than the one I’m in now. I’ve been letting the things that worry me take over and forgetting to focus on the good things that God has done for me.

Can Prayer Change You?
While God already knows our hearts when we come to Him, our prayers help to align our hearts with His. When we ask Him to reveal to us the things we can't see, He will. He will show your sin, your weakness. He'll reveal your strengths and character. You just have to pray and ask Him.
Romans 12:12 says “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.”
Those words...Faithful in prayer.
They have been my mantra this week and will be in the weeks and months to come!
God calls us into a relationship with Him through not only His Word, but through prayer.
He’s there all the time, just waiting to hear from us. We don’t need to say anything fancy, we don’t need to sound “religious.” We just need to talk to Him. Anytime, anywhere, just talk to the One who created you, He loves to hear from you!
- Give Him your hurts.
- Give Him your fears.
- Tell Him when you are happy.
- Tell Him when you feel like a failure.
- Ask Him to help you.
- Tell Him what you are thankful for.
- Ask Him to reveal your weakness.
- Ask Him to help you be a better version of who He created you to be.
Can prayer change things?
I recently started a personal journey to recommit to intentional prayer. I decided to commit to writing down people that I’m praying for and I did just that. Throughout the week, I got emails from some of you who asked me to pray, and I have been praying. But today let's step it up even more!!
This week, I'm challenging you (and myself!) to focus on gratitude in prayer
Grab a notebook or journal and title a page "Thanksgiving"
Each day, write a few things that you are thankful for and thank God for each of them.
BONUS: Write out the words in Romans 12:2 on an index card and put it somewhere where you can read it every day as a reminder.
Buy yourself a Pretty Journal ❤️
If you do this every day, you’ll quickly realize how God will change your perspective. Taking the time to pray and thank God for the good things really helps you realize during difficult times that it’s not always ALL bad. While we may struggle, there is always something to be grateful for!
I hope you have a great week!
Blessings,
Angie
